Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team have paid tribute to their former rescue dog Zee who has sadly passed away.
Zee was a Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team operational search dog from 2015 to 2019.
However Zee didn’t start out life as a search dog, she was initially just an active pet.
Zee was a re-homed German Shepard Dog. In 2010, at 7 months of age Zee went to live with her handler Anni.
Having strong working line heritage Zee was kept busy with obedience training, running and she even did some agility. Zee was aged 4, when on the advice of a retired Police dog instructor, she started foundation search dog training.
Zee quickly took to the training, and in 2015 she was licensed by North Yorkshire Police Dog Section as SRMRT’s search dog. She assisted the Team in open area missing person searches and was also trained to find articles containing human scent.
Zee retired in 2019, when new kid on the block Duke took over, and she continued to live with Anni and her other dogs.
Sadly Zee passed away suddenly in October 2020.
