Scarborough Athletic lost 4-2 at home against League Two's Forest Green Rovers last night, to finally bow out of the FA Cup.
It already felt like Groundhog Day, with this being the 3rd time the sides had met in the FA Cup, after the first game and replay were chalked off the record books due to Forest Green including an ineligable player in their squad.
And it felt like history was repeating itself when Boro took the lead in almost the same minute as they did in the first FA Cup tie between the two sides. Ryan Qualter claimed the goal from a set piece.
But just a few minutes later, Forest Green were level through Omotoye.
An entertaining first half saw the sides go in all square at the break.
Scarborough nearly re-took the lead when Finlay Barnes went clean through on goal, but Forest Green's keeper Belshaw saved brilliantly.
Moments later, the visitors took the lead through Morton, firing in from the edge of the penalty area after Whitley parried a shot.
Both sides had chances and with 15 minutes to go, Boro made some attacking subs and went all out to equalise, but Forest Green Rovers looked like they'd sealed the tie in the 83rd minute when Roberston put the ball past Whitley.
Just 3 minutues later, hope was restored when Luca Colville scored from close range to make it 3-2 following a cross from sub Lewis Maloney.
Momentum was back with the Seadogs, who yet again went for the equaliser, but hearts were broken with a last minute 4th goal for the visitors; Matt Stevens scoring. Home fans were infuriated, believing it was offside.
Over 2,500 fans watched the match, with 52 making the long journey from Gloustershire.
Forest Green Rovers will now travel to Blackpool next Tuesday in Round 2, playing for a tie against Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round.
