The Seadogs lost narrowly after 3 goals in a 12-minute second-half spell, in Lancashire.
After being the better side early on, Harry Green clipped just over for Boro, at Curzon Ashton.
Dom Tear volleyed just off target early in the second half and the hosts missed a great chance after a tremendous Ryan Whitley save, the play-off chasers blasted the rebound into orbit and over the top.
The Seadogs took their chance to lead, on 57 minutes. Sub Alex Wiles had only been on the field a matter of seconds when he found space in the Curzon box and slotted home low down.

This seemed to stir the hosts into action and they levelled within eight minutes through a deflected strike.
Then four minutes later, frustration for Boro as the home side slot home after an initial shot hit a post.
Stephen Walker came agonisingly close to equalising but struck the woodwork himself, soon after and that's how it finished.
Manager Jono Greening told SAFC his side were unlucky to lose:
Boro are back in action next weekend at Kidderminster Harriers in National North.
