Residents, NHS staff, care workers and members of the wider community are invited to come together for a special Covid Reflection Service on Sunday 8th March at 2pm at St Mark’s Church.
The service, which forms part of National Covid Reflection Day, will provide an opportunity for remembrance, reflection and hope, bringing the community together to honour those who lost their lives during the pandemic and to recognise the dedication and sacrifice of health and social care workers.
Organised with the support of local partners, including Saint Cecilia's Care Group and G Roberts Independent Family Funeral Directors, the event will offer a reflective space for individuals and families to remember loved ones, acknowledge the challenges faced by frontline workers and find comfort in shared experience. It is open to everyone in the community, regardless of faith or background.
Mike Padgham, Chairman of Saint Cecilia’s Care Group, said:
“Covid had a profound impact on so many families in our community, and particularly within health and social care.
This service offers a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and remember those we lost, while also recognising the incredible resilience and compassion shown by NHS staff, care workers and the wider community.
We hope people will join us for this important moment of reflection and hope.”
Throughout the pandemic, care providers, funeral directors, NHS teams and community organisations worked tirelessly to support local people during an unprecedented period. The Covid Reflection Service aims to acknowledge that collective effort and provide a space for shared remembrance.
All are welcome to attend. No booking is required.
