The authority have faced down a number of fraud cases in the past year.
Scarborough Borough Council's Fraud Team received 167 reports of suspected fraud in the last year and carried out 29 investigations.
Many of the cases related to the COVID grant scheme.
Sarah Wallis is one of the council's senior fraud investigators and says the amount of money saved was significant:
£96,000 of fraud was stopped by Scarborough Borough Councils fraud team in the last year.
