Toulson Court in Scarborough is Tripadvisor's Best B&B In The World
The Guest House has been rated number 1 in Scarborough since 2016 but today Tripadvisor have rated it as the best B&B in the world, based on Reviews on the site.
Proprietor James Rusden told Paddy at Breakfast this morning that they're over the moon:
"Absolutely delighted, shocked, it's just amazing really. We did find out 48 hours ago so we could prepare ourselves for it. We are just an every day, ordinary run of the mill B&B in Scarborough. We're not the Ritz, we're not the Savoy. We're not that level and obviously with Covid and the pandemic, to get this award is just amazing".
James explained the key to their success:
"We're very clean, friendly, welcoming, nice breakfast. We try to offer the extras. We try to offer advice on what to do. And our core business is built on regulars who come and visit us again and again. And booking direct. With a direct booking there's no comission and we can put money back into the bed & breakfast"
He says it's great news for the town too:
"The stuff to do is endless. That's the greatest thing about Scarborough. There's some fantastic bed & breakfasts in Scarborough and a lot of investment has gone into them too"

Janet Deacon, Scarborough Borough Council Tourism and Culture Manager said:
“We are so proud that our borough is home to Trip Advisor’s best bed and breakfast in the world!
“Congratulations to hosts Angela and James on their amazing success, much of which is down to their passion and commitment to providing a very high quality guest experience with a wonderfully warm Yorkshire coast welcome.”
“A global accolade like this is testament to what our borough’s many successful tourism businesses can achieve when they pull out all the stops to get the important things right.
“As our visitor economy starts to build back better after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, this award will help to enhance the Yorkshire coast’s reputation as a number one destination for visitors and give the whole industry a really positive boost.”
