The Seadogs lost 2-0 at Buxton stay in the National North play-off places.
Scarborough's nine-match unbeaten run ended with defeat at Buxton, on Saturday.
Jono Greening's men remain fifth in National North, the Boro boss told SAFC TV his side lacked the fire in the belly that the hosts showed.
However, he thought the opening goal, on the half hour, from a penalty, was tough on his side:
" I thought it was really harsh. Brownie gets his body in the way and actually Bert, who probably fouls him, is laughing, coming back saying I fouled him and their bench was laughing and you know, we tried to speak to the fourth official, but obviously they gave the penalty. So you go a goal behind. We had a great chance, I think off a corner. He's got to hit the target six yards out, middle of the goal, and then Wally's had a little chance where he is. He's tried to curl it into the top-right and the keeper makes a great safe. I think Witts makes an unbelievable save first half as well. I think we probably went a little bit too gung ho trying to get that equaliser too quick. And then we left ourselves open and obviously we lost the game 2-0."
The Derbyshire outfit added a second just after the hour.
The Seadogs host another side in the play-off shake-up, eighth-place Merthyr Town, in a 3pm kick-off, next Saturday.
