The Seadogs came from behind to beat a promotion rival but aren't certain of a place in the National North play-offs yet.
Boro went behind to Merthyr Town inside three minutes.
However, the Seadogs battled back in the second period.
Kieran Weledji levelled matters midway through the second half.
Rio Allan then sent much of the crowd at Mounting Systems Stadium into rapture with a winner soon after.
Boro boss Jono Greening spoke to SAFC TV at full-time:
"It was always going to be a nervous game with both teams wanting to win the game and needing to win the game to stay in the play-offs. Obviously, we were 1-0 down at half-time, from our own mistake, early on in the game. We obviously didn't want to give them a goal head start, but we did. And yeah, I thought second half we were tremendous. The only team really trying to go and win the game, I thought. And it was good when the goals went in and we finally got 2-1 up in front and then as always, the last five, six minutes of the game, we're always a bit nervous because, you know, you don't want them to counter-attack and score against you and equalise in the last few seconds."
The Seadogs held out for the 2-1 win but may need a result at Bedford Town in their last game of the season, next Saturday, to make the play-offs.
