Alison Hume says there are three areas she wants to target after just over a year in the job.
Addressing local councillors, she invited them to work with her.
The constituency's first woman MP says transport links are crucial for the region.
"I'm not just talking trains, I'm talking buses in the rural areas, our area will be held back. And opportunities for young people I think are, is crucial. The is the other area that we should all be concentrating on. So those are the three areas, investment, transport and opportunities. And I really do look forward to working with you all as we make a better future for our constituents."
The Labour MP added more on attracting investment to the area and expanding work opportunities.
"What I think the area needs after being the MP for a year, I would say we've probably got three areas that we could all work together on. One is the investment into the constituency. We need that, and I was delighted to be at the opening of Siemens Electric recently. It's a great example of jobs will be created going forward.
The second challenge I think is transport, and I've been quite vocal on this and I know that our mayor is working on it."
She added the third challenge is opportunities. The Yorkshire Coast has traditionally experienced high unemployment and poorer job prospects compared to inland regions.
