Saint Catherine's Launch 2021 Bring A Pound to Work Day

Saint Catherine's will partner with This is the Coast and Scarborough Business Ambassadors to deliver their Bring a Pound to Work Day event on March 9th 2021.

Scarborough based Saint Catherine’s says it is delighted that Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 will be taking place in partnership with This is the Coast.

The charity and radio station will join forces to hold the event on Tuesday March 9, 2021, supported by Scarborough Business Ambassadors - a group comprising leading figures in business and local government and representatives across a variety of sectors.

The idea of Bring a Pound to Work Day is as simple as it sounds – businesses across the local area encourage their teams to ‘bring a pound to work’ and all the proceeds go towards helping Saint Catherine’s look after patients and their families, both in the hospice and at home.

More details on how to take part will be announced nearer the time by This is the Coast, but for the time being businesses are being encouraged to save the date.

Tracy Calcraft, Income and Business Services Director at Saint Catherine’s, said:

“We are really looking forward to Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 and thrilled to be working with This is the Coast and also to be supported by Scarborough Business Ambassadors.

“We would like to thank them for their support. Every pound counts and it all makes such a difference to patients and families in our local community.”

This is the Coast Managing Director, Matthew Pells, said:

“Saint Catherine’s is such a vital organisation for the Yorkshire Coast, we feel it’s really important to do everything we can to enable everyone on the coast to take part in this great day of fundraising and to show how much they value the work Saint Catherine’s does.

“We’ll be turning the entire days radio output over to covering the fundraising efforts, talking to the people who are generously supporting Saint Catherine’s and hearing from some of those true local heroes who keep the services running.

“It’s brilliant that Scarborough Ambassadors are supporting the day, they are going to bring loads of experience, enthusiasm and capability to what promises to be a great demonstration of community spirit on the coast.”

Susan Richings, a director at Scarborough Business Ambassadors, said:

"We are delighted that the Ambassadors as a group is joining with the Saint Catherine's team to help support this major
fundraising mission. Every pound will help to maintain the fantastic, tremendous free work of the hospice for the benefit of Scarborough patients, their families and carers.

"We urge everyone and the business community in particular to take part, making contributions or donations - particularly during the current situation when COVID-19 is adding to the funding challenges and care issues.

"For our part, we will visit businesses and organisations (safety guidelines permitting), supporting hospice and radio staff to collect your contribution to help our wonderful Saint Catherine's continue its hugely valued services that mean so much for so many people at the most difficult times of their lives."

More details about Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 will be announced nearer the time on air by This is the Coast and on social media.
