The hospice is inviting community members to explore its facilities today and learn about new services designed to extend support beyond the hospice walls and into the community.
The Public Open Day is scheduled for Wednesday, 30th April, with two available time slots: 10am - 2pm or 4pm - 7pm.
This event offers a unique opportunity for visitors to see positive changes at Saint Catherine’s and hear directly from the dedicated team. Guests will be able to explore the newly developed respite wing and interact with the innovative mobile hubs. These hubs are designed to bring support closer to people in the community.
The Open Day aims to show how the hospice is expanding its offerings to meet the changing needs of patients and their families. Guided tours and informative sessions will be available throughout the day.
CEO Ray Baird highlighted the hospice's broader mission, stating, "Saint Catherine’s has always been about more than just end-of-life care". He added, "We are committed to supporting people in our community through every stage of life, and these new services are an important part of that mission".
Saint Catherine’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support for adults with a terminal illness, as well as their families, carers, and friends. This care is delivered in people’s homes, within the community, and at the hospice itself. The hospice's team includes doctors, nurses, therapists, counsellors, and social workers who are trained specialists focused on a 'whole person' view to enhance health and wellbeing. The hospice relies on supporters and donors to raise the £6.1 million needed annually to deliver its specialist care.
Saint Catherine’s says the team look forward to welcoming the community to its Open Day as it continues its journey of care and innovation.
