The future of cricket at North Marine Road is moving into a new phase of restoration and financial recovery, as Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Scarborough Cricket Club look toward the 2026 season
While the ground remains a cornerstone of the regional sporting calendar, a recent rigorous inspection has highlighted the physical toll of recent financial challenges.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has confirmed that a full inspection of the stands and facilities has resulted in the closure of the Peasholm Park End. The entire stand, stretching from the scoreboard to the commentary boxes, has been deemed unsafe for spectators and will remain closed for all upcoming fixtures.
The club attributed the current state of the stand to a lack of investment during several difficult financial years. However, the Scarborough board has expressed its determination to rectify the situation, stating that they have already begun "preparing plans for re-development of this area". The ultimate goal remains the "safe return of spectators at the earliest opportunity".
Despite the closure of the Peasholm Park End, the rest of the ground will function as usual. Officials have reassured supporters that all remaining areas of North Marine Road will stay open, with ongoing work designed to ensure the "much-loved Scarborough matchday experience" continues for members and fans.
To support the club’s "long-term financial sustainability," Scarborough Cricket Club and the county have also reviewed their ticketing structure. In an effort to humanise the cost for regular attendees, matchday ticket prices for 2026 have been frozen. Additionally, a new "early bird" rate has been introduced, offering a near 20% discount for those who book more than seven days in advance.
Under the new pricing structure:
- Adult tickets are set at £33 for matchdays, reduced to £26.50 for early bird purchasers.
- Seniors and Concessions can attend for £25 on the day or £22.50 via the early bird offer.
- Junior tickets remain at a flat rate of £5.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club has noted that tickets for the Rothesay County Championship and Metro One Day Cup will be available starting Wednesday, 25th February. Supporters are advised that tickets must be purchased through the YCCC ticket office or website, as they will not be sold directly by Scarborough Cricket Club.
