North Yorkshire Police received over 9,000 999 calls in October, making it the force's busiest ever October.
The volume of calls is one of the reasons the force says it is not meeting the national target of answering 90% of 999 calls in under ten seconds.

The 101 line in North Yorkshire has received over 160,000 calls so far this year.
The non emergency number for contacting the Police has seen high call volumes across the year and Assistant Chief Constable Pannone says that's one reason why they aren't answering calls as quickly as they would like:
