Proudfoot Supermarkets has donated £500 to both Edgehill Football Club and the Derwent Valley Scout Group.
These donations were made through the supermarket's Making A Difference Locally Charity Fund, and aim to bolster engagement among young people in sports and provide unique life experiences.
Edgehill Football Club, a local sports organisation, received a £500 donation from Proudfoot Supermarkets to help revitalise youth participation in football.
The club noted that sport in the area is experiencing a decline, with football teams seeing reduced numbers. In response, Edgehill Football Club is "trying their best to get as many young people involved". The club plans to use the funds to offer free training sessions, which they believe will help young players advance into men’s teams and sustain the sport in the local Scarborough area.
Edgehill Football Club indicated that "Training is the next step before actual games" and these sessions are designed for young people to "get a taste of senior football". To facilitate these training sessions, the club also requires new equipment, including balls, bibs, cones, water bottles, and potentially a first aid kit.
Proudfoot Supermarkets say their donation "will enable the group to offer this opportunity to young people to get involved and enjoy the game of Football".
In a separate initiative, the Derwent Valley Scout Group also benefited from a £500 donation from Proudfoot Supermarkets.
The Derwent Valley Scout Group operates as a "local youth organisation providing valuable skills for life to over 100 young people aged 4-18".
The Proudfoot donation is specifically supporting an upcoming trip for young members of the group. In May 2026, 25 Scouts and Explorers aged 10-17, accompanied by adult volunteers, are planning a visit to Disneyland Paris. The trip itinerary includes two days at the park and one day for sightseeing in "the City," described as "an adventure of a lifetime for all involved".
Proudfoot Supermarkets stated that their contribution "will enable the group to offer this opportunity to more families of young people to have access to this trip".
