Officers from Scarborough, Filey and Eastfield joined with the Coastguard yesterday to search for a missing person in Cayton Bay.
A plane from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) was also used.
Officers in Scarborough say:
"You may have seen an increased presence in and around the camp sites and in the cliff top during Sunday afternoon into the darkness hours as officers carried out the search.
A local man in his 30s was located safe and well and will be receiving the required support.
We would like to thank everyone who assisted us in our enquiries to bring the man home safely."
