After receiving more than 500 entries for the ‘My Wish’ poetry competition, East Riding Libraries are set to host their Poetry Palooza.
It's a day filled with performances and poetry-themed activities at North Bridlington Library on Saturday. Competition winners, as judged by a panel of published Yorkshire poets, will also be announced on the day during the afternoon’s prize-giving ceremony.

The event is open to everyone and will run on a drop-in basis, which will allow people to attend as many activities as they would like.

Councillor Nick Coultish, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism, said:

Cassandra Parkin, recently appointed East Riding Poet Laureate, said:
"Poetry is a chance for all of us to share whatever's on our mind - from huge, life-changing occasions to the small moments that make the texture of our days. It's also incredibly easy to join in. All you need to get started is something to write on, something to write with, and something to say. I'm so excited to be a part of the Poetry Palooza and can't wait to perform some of my poems."
