Joint boss Lee Bullock branded it pathetic as Whitby let a 1-0 lead slip against ten-man Lancaster to lose 3-1 at the Towbar Express Stadium.
Whitby are now just five points outside the NPL Premier's relegation zone.
The visitors dominated the first half a minute before half-time, with their first clear-cut opportunity. It was a solo beauty from Jarrett Rivers who cut in off the left flank, on his right foot and curled a perfect strike into the top-left corner from the left-edge of the penalty area.
Eight minutes into the second half, Whitby fans were cheering again as Bobby Bjork was given a straight red card for a rash slide challenge on Aaron Haswell.
However, Whitby should have doubled their advantage, moments later as Jake Charles' looping header clipped the crossbar and Matty Tymon somehow sliced the rebound along the goal-line and wide. Seconds later, the away keeper blocked well from Rivers, with Tymon again poking wide of the mark from the follow-up.
The away side turned the match on its head in the space of two ridiculous minutes. With 79 on the clock, a long ball was beautifully back-heeled by Dom Lawson for fellow substitute Dylan Thompson to crash low past Bland from just inside the Whitby box. Then seconds later, there was chaos in the Town penalty area with a Lawson snapshot deflected up and over Bland and dropping fortuitously into the empty net for 2-1 Lancaster.
Whitby, who had looked edgy even with the extra man, finally got forward towards the end. Haswell brought a terrific low save from Kelly, with Hawkins lacking the good fortunate at the other end as his lob dropped just over the top.
Evangelinos then made sure in injury time with Lancaster's winning third, on the break.
Bullock was scathing in his post-match interview with Whitby Town TV:
