A jump tower and climbing wall could be constructed at the Blue Dolphin Holiday Park in Filey if plans are approved by the council.
Haven Leisure wants to erect a jump tower and climbing wall with associated ground works at its Blue Dolphin Holiday park in Filey.
If approved by North Yorkshire Council, the jump tower would be located to the south of an existing facilities building and to the west of an existing owners’ lounge.
“The site currently houses a climbing wall set over bark chipping with a fence and grassland. This activity area is used regularly by guests only during the opening times of the park,” according to submitted proposals.
Haven said that the Jump tower and climbing wall would not be floodlit and would only be operational during daylight hours.
The holiday park’s owner is “proposing to undertake the necessary ground works to extend the level area already established” in order to install the tower.
“The ground cover will be permeable astroturf and the surrounding fence will be a 1100mm timber fence.”
Access to the tower would be via a gate from an existing area of grassland.
“The location has been selected due to its proximity to the existing facilities on offer at the park, as it is the existing location of other play equipment for guests. There are no proposed buildings forming part of this application,” the proposal adds.
North Yorkshire Council has not set a date for deciding on the application, which is currently open to representations from members of the public.
