There were 17,000 crimes awaiting an outcome in North Yorkshire at the start of the year.
North Yorkshire Police says it is working hard to reduce it's crime backlog.
Assistant Chief Constable - Mike Walker - says they are having a concerted effort to reduce the number of crimes awaiting outcomes.
At the start of the year North Yorkshire Police had 17,000 ongoing crime investigations on it's books.
But last month it managed to bring over 2,000 of those to a resolution.
