An assistant chief constable in the force has admitted emergency call handling times haven't been good enough.
The target should be to answer 999 calls within ten seconds.
Lindsey Butterfield says there have been challenges over the summer.
She adds demand has been high but more police have been added to the call room as things weren't good enough previously:
North Yorkshire Police have been busy recruiting new call handlers or moving those with useful experience from other roles.
