North Yorkshire Police have confirmed that all its officers will be going through monthly vetting checks as part of efforts to ensure public confidence in the force.
It was the first force in the country to undertake the pilot and as a result of this up to as many as 2,000 officers nationwide could be sacked as well as hundreds being placed on restricted duties.
North Yorkshire Police Chief Constable - Lisa Winward - says that all officers will be continuously put through the national police database.
Earlier this year, the National Police Chiefs’ Council asked all forces to double-check their officers to find anyone who is “simply not fit to wear the uniform”. following Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick, 48, was found to be one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders.
Mabs Hussain who is Deputy Chief Constable for North Yorkshire Police says that there have been no issues that have come up following the initial vetting process in the county
