North Yorkshire Police say it is addressing concerns over the detention of children raised by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary.
The force have been told to review the matter within three months- working with children's social services- youth offending services and other partner agencies.

The body that independently examines Police efficency and effectiveness has asked North Yorkshire's force to review how it detains children.
It comes after it uncovered long periods where young people were waiting to be provided an appropriate adult so they can be questioned legally.
Assistant Chief Constable Butterfield says that's not a situation anyone wants to be in and that the local authority has a responsibility to provide an appropriate adult in a timely manner:
There was an example of a young person waiting for 22 hours for an appropriate adult to be found.

She added that answers to the problem are expected soon and that the group are being guided by data on the issue.
