Alison Hume has addressed parliament regarding a need for funding to be widened in the wake of the Langdale Moor fire.
She wants the government to widen funding to include the effects of wildfires:
" Last summer, my constituency suffered the devastating Langdale Moor wildfire. The local community, including farmers and businesses, stepped in to help firefighters battle the enormous blaze, which at it's height covered 10 square miles. Yet unlike flooding, there is no clear route to government grants for wildfire events.
"Does the leader of the house agree with me that we urgently need to look widening the farming recovery fund and flood recovery framework to wildfire?"
Alan Campbell MP gave this response:
"In tackling the devastating fire, we are funding a national resilience wildfire advisor so that we can increase resilience. And I will draw this to the attention of the relevant minister should she wish to meet with the relevant minister and raise this specific example. I will try to facilitate that."
