North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service says it's systems did cope with a large increase in calls on Tuesday which lead it to declare a major Incident.
The Fire Service in North Yorkshire says it's systems coped with this weeks heatwave.
On Tuesday the service declared a major incident as the extreme heat caused a deluge of calls to it's emergency line.
Dave Winspear is Director of Transformation at North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, he says their resilience plans were tested.
The service received 172 emergency calls in 12 hours and responded to 57 incidents, six of these incidents required more than four appliances with the largest incident requiring nine.
Dave Winspear says it was a testing period.
The fire and rescue service have thanked the public for their support during the heatwave saying:
"Many people opened their doors and offered refreshments and facilities to our crews on the ground, including a local primary school and a supermarket, and we are extremely grateful for this.
Thank you to everyone who assisted us in some way, from offering our firefighters bottles of water to sharing our social media posts and writing messages of support."
