The amount of extra money the Fire service in North Yorkshire will get from it's council tax increase this year won't cover the organisations increasing costs.
Government rules limit the service to a 1.98% increase in council tax, but with inflation running at 5.4%, bosses say they service is going to have to dip into it's reserves.
Michael Porter is chief Financial Officer at the police fire and crime commissioner's office.
While some Fire services have been allowed to increase their element of council tax bills by five pounds for the coming year, North Yorkshire fire and rescue has had it's increase limited to just one pound 47 pence.
The 1.98% increase is below inflation and Chief Financial Officer at the commissioners office - Michael Porter - says there was public support for a larger increase.
Michael says the North Yorkshire Fire service is now going to have to dip in to it's reserves to cover it's operational costs over the next two years. He says it's not a situation that is sustainable.
