Filey MP Kevin Hollinrake is calling for a rocket to be put up the NHS dental commissioning process.
The lack of NHS dentists in North Yorkshire has been highlighted at a house of commons debate on access to dentistry services.
Filey MP Kevin Hollinrake told the debate that there is no availability for new NHS patients in the county and read a letter from one of his constituents in Rillington.
Mr Hollinrake is calling for the commissioning of dental services to be returned to local decision makers rather than being dealt with on a regional basis.
The Filey MP says the process is taking too long, with one dental practise in his constituency taking 20 months to commission.
Mr Hollinrake spoke at a Westminster debate on access to NHS dentistry.
Kevin Hollinrake says there is a problem with patients getting access to NHS dentistry across North Yorkshire, but he says the problem is not always that dentists don't want the work.
