Bridlington Town manager Scott Kerr has praised his team's superb performance following a hard-fought two-one victory away at Silsden.
Bridlington Town secured a two-one victory away at Silsden, with manager Scott Kerr praising the superb performance of his players in what has been a highly positive period for the club.
The win extends Bridlington's impressive run of form, having now lost just one of their last twelve matches across all competitions. Kerr expressed his delight with the squad's continued development and resilience.
Despite facing challenges before kick-off, including a disrupted warm-up that saw Casey Stewart pull out due to injury, the team adapted well. Kerr noted that the late change meant altering the starting eleven and beginning the match with only four substitutes.
The game itself was affected by difficult weather conditions, with Kerr describing the wind in the first half as horrendous. However, Bridlington defended resolutely, bolstered by what the manager called an unbelievable save from goalkeeper Alex Baird.
Kerr also highlighted a controversial moment in the first half when Ben Farrah was hacked down, suggesting the opposition should have received a red card for the challenge.
Following a tactical adjustment at half-time to press from the front, Bridlington took control of the match. The high press led directly to the opening goal, before Denny Oliver doubled the advantage with a spectacular strike from the halfway line.
Although Silsden managed to pull a goal back late in the game, causing some nervous moments for the management team, Bridlington held on for the three points.
The team will now look to carry their momentum into Wednesday's fixture against Grimsby Borough, a side who sit just below them in the league table.
