The team from Newby and Scalby Library are going back to school.
The charitably run library found it had a surplus of funds during lockdown and it's now using the cash to help run a pop up library service with local schools.
Chair of trustees at the library,Isabel Nixon, says the scheme has already provided local youngsters with free reading material.
A pop up library is now going to be appearing in some local schools in September.
In the age of the e-book, Isabel thinks there is an important role for conventional books but says some youngsters just don't have the opportunity to use them.
Newby and Scalby Library and Information Centre became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2017, which means it is a registered Charity, managed by a Board of six Trustees who are elected by the Members. They are totally independent of any other organisation but work in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council who provide the books and IT services and some support services.
The library's income is derived from library services (room hire, printing/photocopying charges, computer time, refreshments, fines, reservation charges etc.) and through fundraising, donations, sponsorship and grant aid.
