Young brass musicians from Year 3 upwards are being invited to join a newly formed East Riding of Yorkshire Youth Band following a successful music event.
The East Riding Music Service has announced the launch of a new Youth Brass Band, created in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Brass Band.
The new musical initiative is extending an open invitation to young brass musicians of all abilities to come forward and join the ensemble. Organisers have stated that the opportunity is available for children from Year 3 upwards.
The creation of the youth band follows a recently held and highly successful 'Brass Blast Day'.
This event took place at the Hexagon Music Centre and saw brass players of varying ages and skill levels join together to make music.
During the Brass Blast Day, twenty-five children ranging from complete beginners to advanced players joined forces with twenty established members of the East Yorkshire Brass Band.
Merlin Joseph, executive director of children, families and schools, shared her enthusiasm for the new project and the success of the recent music day.
Merlin Joseph said:
"The young brass players thoroughly enjoyed the Brass Blast Day. I’m excited that we are now launching the East Riding of Yorkshire Youth Band, and brass musicians are invited to sign up and get involved."
Those who sign up for the new ensemble will be required to attend regular practice sessions. Rehearsals are scheduled to take place on a fortnightly basis at the Hexagon Music Centre, located on Coltman Avenue, HU17 9LP.
These sessions will run during the late afternoon, starting at 16.15pm and concluding at 17.45pm.
