Emergency services have spent the night tackling a significant blaze at a disused hotel on Fort Terrace in Bridlington.
Emergency crews have been working through the night following a major blaze at a disused property in Bridlington.
The incident occurred at the former Balmoral Hotel, located on Fort Terrace, with emergency services arriving at the scene shortly after 11 pm on Tuesday night.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service deployed crews to the town to tackle the flames, receiving vital support from police officers and other local emergency response teams throughout the night.
The building itself has not operated as a hotel for a number of years and has remained entirely closed to the public.
Due to the sheer volume of thick smoke billowing from the structure during the height of the incident, authorities issued an urgent warning to those living in the immediate vicinity. Locals were strongly advised to ensure all windows and doors were kept firmly shut to prevent smoke inhalation.
To allow first responders to safely manage the situation and access the property, a safety cordon was established. This resulted in the temporary closure of the Fort Terrace and Promenade areas of the town while crews worked to bring the flames under control.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that there are no reported casualties at this stage. Furthermore, emergency teams have found no evidence to suggest that anyone was occupying the derelict premises when the fire ignited.
The exact circumstances surrounding the start of the blaze remain unknown. Specialist fire investigators are currently on site in Bridlington, carrying out a thorough examination of the scene to determine exactly how the fire was sparked.
