The town is hosting the British Isles Championships but has eyes on a bigger prize.
The British Isles Short Mat bowls championship gets underway in Scarborough today.
Teams from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be competing at the town's indoor bowls centre.
Scarborough teacher Bronagh Toleman is the England Skipper.
She says the Scarborough venue is first rate and hopes the weekend will showcase it's ability to stage even bigger events in the future.

It's the first time the event has been to the town.
Bronagh is encouraging locals to go along and support the teams.
Play gets underway at 0930 on Saturday and 0900 on Sunday and is expected to go into the afternoon on both days.
There is free admission to the venue for spectators.
