Increased police presence in Eastfield after drugs warrant.
Residents of Eastfield may have noticed a heightened police presence in the High Street Flats area recently. This increase is part of a dedicated effort by local law enforcement to enhance community safety following the execution of a drugs warrant last week.
PC Megan Smith, the newly appointed Beat Manager for Eastfield, confirmed the ongoing investigation and expressed the commitment of the police to ensure the neighbourhood remains safe. "We have been working with colleagues from Scarborough and Filey to develop our local intelligence and carry out the warrant," PC Smith stated.
As part of her role, PC Smith is actively involved in patrolling the area and organising events aimed at fostering engagement with residents. She encourages community members to approach her during her patrols, saying,
"If you see me when I'm out and about, please stop me for a chat. I want to know what issues are affecting our residents."
Acknowledging that some individuals may feel hesitant to communicate with the police, PC Smith urged those with information to consider contacting Crimestoppers for anonymous reporting. "I understand that some people are unsure about speaking to police; if you have information to provide, I would urge you to speak to Crimestoppers," she advised.
Residents can also reach out to PC Smith via email at Megan.Smith2@northyorkshire.police.uk, although she emphasised that this method should not be used for reporting incidents. For immediate concerns, the police can be contacted through 999 or 101, or via their official website. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
PC Smith highlighted the importance of community cooperation, stating,
"Your information is vital in helping us target criminal activity. We will continue to act on intelligence provided by the community, and we will continue to proactively target criminal activity. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make Eastfield a safer place for everyone."
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of North Yorkshire Police to work collaboratively with the community to address local concerns and enhance public safety.
