Increase in Petrol Station Fuel Thefts Recorded in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Police say there has been an increase in petrol station "drive off" offences in recent weeks.

Their latest crime data shows an increasing number of people filling up their vehicle and then driving away without making payment.

Assistant Chief Constable - Elliot Foskett – says they've seen a marked increase in what's technically know as "Bilking".

North Yorkshire's latest crime figures show a 9 per cent fall in overall reported crime.

The data covers a 4 week period up to April the 10th

Assistant Chief Constable Foskett says that despite the overall fall, there have been increases in certain types of offences.
