There are signs that the national lockdown is having an effect on the number of COVID cases in North Yorkshire.
The county's seven day infection rate now stands at 308 cases for every 100,000 people although there has been a slight increase in the numbers for the Scarborough Borough in today's figures from 223 to 224.
The number of cases being seen in hospitals remains high and the fall in case numbers is expected to lag behind the infection rate numbers by a couple of weeks. This means the downward trends in the infection rate graphs (seen below) is yet to be seen clearly in actual case numbers.

The county's director of Public Health, Louise Wallace, says hospitals have seen a slight fall in case numbers this week, but while that is encouraging it's not yet a downward trend.
With 270 new cases a day still being reported in the county Louise Wallace says the numbers are still high and that there is no room for complacency. Louise as thanked local residents for sticking to the lockdown rules.
