Goal Difference Makes All The Difference For Scarborough Athletic

The Seadogs are on the wrong side of the play-off line in National North, but only just.

Jono Greening's men came back in the second half to claim a 1-1 draw at Marine on Saturday.

The point takes them up to 8th, but FA Cup giantkillers Macclesfield are ahead of them on goal difference.

Boro fell behind on 28 minutes but hit back, after the break, through the prolific Steven Walker.

Greening spoke to SAFC TV after the final whistle, stating:

"It was actually a really good game of football to watch. They're very direct, very physical. We knew we ought to be at our best defensively. And I think the first 28, 29 minutes, I thought we matched them in that department. We tried to play our football. We got in some good areas without creating really good chances. But we looked really comfortable and then they get a break away and it's just an easy goal we gave away. It's one of those mistakes where you think, oh, you think the keeper should save it. It's really slow. He doesn't get down to his left. It's from 20-odd yards out. And we started off the second half really well and to get the early goal was obviously brilliant. Great finish by Wacker. And then Wacker's had another good chance. I thought Greeny came to life, second half, him and Brownie connected, more pace. But we just couldn't get that second goal."

Boro are back in action, at home to Spennymoor, on Tuesday night, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
