Saint Cecilia's Care Group is hosting a free drop-in advice session in Scarborough to help residents navigate dementia care, financial support, and respite services.
Residents in the Scarborough area who are seeking guidance on social care options are being invited to attend a free drop-in advice session.
The community event is being hosted by Saint Cecilia's Care Group and aims to provide vital support for those looking into dementia care, financial support, and respite services.
Navigating the social care system can often be challenging and overwhelming for families, which is why the care group has organised the event to offer clear and honest advice to those who need it most.
The session is designed to be highly accessible, allowing people to ask questions about care funding and assessments, as well as finding the right care solutions for their specific circumstances.
One of the organisers of the drop-in session is Mike Padgham:
"Accessing social care can be a bit of a minefield. So that's why we're holding some care advice drop-in sessions. The next one is at the YMCA on St Thomas Street in Scarborough on Thursday and you're very welcome to pop along for a friendly chat. Whether you're planning ahead or facing immediate care need, our team will be on hand to offer guidance and answer any questions you might have from care funding and assessments to finding the right care solution for now or in the future."
The organisers are encouraging anyone who is starting to consider care options, whether for themselves or a family member, to take advantage of the free guidance on offer.
Mike added:
"You're very welcome to come along. It's at the YMCA, St Thomas Street in Scarborough, anytime between 10:30 up until 12:30 on the 16th of April, that's Thursday. No appointments are needed, just come along. So if you're a family member and starting to think about care options, then this is a great opportunity to get clear, honest advice in a relaxed setting. Look forward to seeing you there."
The initiative aims to demystify the process of securing care, particularly for complex needs such as dementia care, while also addressing the often confusing aspects of financial support.
By offering a relaxed setting for these important conversations, Saint Cecilia's Care Group hopes to alleviate the stress that families often face when making significant decisions about respite services and long-term care solutions in the Scarborough area.
