Whitby Town have confirmed the departures of midfielders Michael Woods and Ronnie McGrath from the Towbar Express Stadium.
Experienced midfielder Woods has left the club by mutual consent after joining the Seasiders in February 2025 from Scarborough Athletic. He made an immediate impact with the club, scoring on his debut in a 2-1 victory away at Leek Town that month.
The former Chelsea youth player brought a wealth of experience to Whitby, having enjoyed a long career across both the Football League and non-league football. Prior to his move to the Seasiders, Woods had spells with clubs including Hartlepool United, York City and South Shields.
During his time with Whitby Town, Woods became an influential figure both on and off the pitch. His leadership and composure in midfield helped guide the squad through the latter stages of the 2024/25 campaign and their Pitching In Northern Premier League survival, while he also contributed key performances and goals during the early part of the current season.
The club thanked Woods for his professionalism and commitment during his spell at the Towbar Express Stadium and wished him well for the future.
Whitby Town have also confirmed that midfielder Ronnie McGrath has departed the club.
McGrath joined the Seasiders in August 2025 from Tadcaster Albion following a successful pre-season trial. A former Leeds United academy player, he impressed with his energy, technical ability and versatility across midfield.
However, injuries limited his opportunities during the 2025/26 Pitching In Northern Premier League campaign. He made 14 appearances for the club and scored once.
Whitby Town have thanked McGrath for his efforts and wished him every success in the next stage of his career.
