An FA investigation is taking place in relation to the eligibility of a player used by Forest Green Rovers against Scarborough Athletic in the FA Cup.
Boro played 2 games against the League Two side in the Emirates FA Cup First Round, last month.
The first game at the Flamingo Land Stadium finished 1-1. A replay at The New Lawn, home of Forest Green Rovers ended in a 5-2 win for the league side, ending Boro's best run in the competition.
But tonight, Seadogs fans are speculating over the possibility of Scarborough being reinstated into the FA Cup, should the investigation go against Forest Green Rovers.
Barnsley were thrown out of the competition after their 1st Round tie, for fielding an ineligible player against Horsham.
The statement from the FA reads:
We are investigating a matter in relation to Forest Green Rovers’ involvement in the Emirates FA Cup, relating to the eligibility of a player used by Forest Green Rovers in the first round.
As a result, Forest Green Rovers’ second-round fixture away at Blackpool FC, which was scheduled for Saturday 2 December, has been postponed.
This matter is subject to an ongoing investigation and we will provide a further update in due course.
Forest Green Rovers posted this on X, on Friday:
Forest Green Rovers are aware of an FA investigation, meaning our FA Cup tie against Blackpool tomorrow is postponed.
