Heavy persistent rain has lead to rising river levels.
A Flood Warning has been issued for the River Esk from Briggswath to Ruswarp.
The Environment Agency say that flooding is expected and immediate action is required.
The level of the River Esk at Briggswath is rising due to persistent rain overnight on Thursday night and into the morning of Friday 08/01/2021. Areas most at risk are the area around Ruswarp Pleasure Boat Ticket Office.
Flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected today, Friday 08/01/2021.
The Environment Agency ask people to avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
