Whitby Town and Stocksbridge Park Steels fought to an eventful 0-0 draw at the Towbar Express Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Blues, playing their first home match of the new season and modelling their new home kit, made a bright start.
Midway through the first half, Donald Chimalillo headed inches wide after good work from Layton Watts.
Chimalillo came close again and Layton Watts was just off target with an inventive effort after some bright build-up play.
The visitors had their chances too, with Connor Smith brilliantly clearing off his own goal-line, late in the first half.

Within moments of the restart, a floodlight pylon caught fire and the match was temporarily halted.
The pylon was switched off and things were able to restart, with Ronnie McGrath forcing a save from the Stocksbridge keeper.

One of the match assistants then pulled up apparently injured and there was another delay as he recovered and was able to continue.
Because of the repeated hold-ups, ten minutes added time was required at the end of the game.
Only a tremendous last-gasp save from Shane Bland kept Whitby level, before first Jarret Rivers, then defender Nathan McGinley hit the crossbar for the hosts. Matty Tymon drilled inches wide for Town right at the end as it finished 0-0.
