Coastal roads, footpaths, and car parks between Bridlington and Barmston face possible flooding today due to strong winds and rough seas.
Coastal roads and footpaths along the North Sea coast face potential flooding today as strong winds and large waves hit the region.
A flood alert has been issued for the stretch of coastline from Bridlington to Barmston, with the highest risk of flooding expected between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM this afternoon and evening.
Members of the public are being urged to stay away from vulnerable areas, including car parks and walkways near the sea, which could become submerged by the rough conditions.
While the immediate flood risk is concentrated on Tuesday, rough sea conditions are expected to persist for the remainder of the week.
An official update from the flood warning service stated:
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Conditions are forecast to improve tomorrow. Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded. Sea conditions are likely to remain rough for the remainder of the week."
The situation is under continuous review, with a further update scheduled to be released by 9:00 PM tonight, or earlier if conditions change.
Residents in the affected areas are also being reminded that they can register to receive direct flood warnings by phone, text, or email to stay informed on the latest developments.
