Motorists and pedestrians face disruption as Blue Bank on the A169 closes during daytime hours for a five-day annual maintenance programme.
Daytime travel into Whitby will face disruption this week as a major route undergoes its annual maintenance programme.
Blue Bank on the A169 will shut to traffic between 9.30am and 3.30pm for five consecutive days, with the closure commencing today, Monday 19 October.
The daytime shutdown allows maintenance crews to carry out their yearly schedule of works on the route safely.
Access to properties and businesses located within the restricted zone will be maintained throughout the week, with on-site personnel deployed to assist in managing local access.
However, pedestrians will be entirely prohibited from using the route while the maintenance takes place.
North Yorkshire Council issued a reminder regarding the restrictions and the impact on local travel.
They stated:
"A reminder that Blue Bank on the A169 will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm for five days, starting today, Monday 19 October. This closure is in place while we carry out annual maintenance. On-site personnel will assist in managing access to properties and businesses within the closure. No pedestrian access will be available during the works."
