Flamborough's GP surgery looks set to be permanently closed.
The satellite surgery in the village hasn't been used for the last 18 months.
Jon Duckies from The Humber Primary Care Trust says the facilities are not up to standard.
Historically, both Bridlington's Field House Surgery and Manor House Surgery delivered services from Flamborough as a satellite clinic. This Flamborough satellite service was discontinued by Field House when One Medical held the contract due to staffing and has been delivered intermittently by Manor House and latterly Humber Primary Care following Covid. No service has been delivered from Flamborough for over 18 months
Jon Duckies from the Humber NHS Trust says they've looked at a range of alternatives.
The patients who currently receive their primary care from Humber Primary Care in Bridlington but reside in Flamborough or Bempton were contacted with notification of the Trust’s plans to permanently close the satellite surgery in Flamborough.
Patients were contacted by a text message notifying them of plans to make the temporary closure permanent going forward. Within the text message was a request that should patients wish to provide any feedback on this closure they could send their thoughts to a specially created and monitored email address.
Early consultation with local councillors outlined the difficulty that people have with obtaining repeat prescriptions if they do not have access to the NHS App. One idea which HPC are exploring is to utilise a box in the local post office or pharmacy where people can deposit requests for repeat prescriptions which will be collected by the practice. Patients who are unable to use the App can still contact the practice via the telephone to order repeat prescriptions.
Jon Duckies says that health professionals will be organising an event in Flamborough to help people access services through the NHS app.
In an update on their website, The NHS Trust said:
"Thank you to those patients who provided feedback on the proposed continuation of service delivery to our Flamborough residents through Humber Primary Care. Patients were asked to email their feedback before Sunday 12 May and this has now been completed.
The feedback provided will be collated and will be addressed with FAQ document to be published on the Humber Primary Care website."
