Motorcycle safety is being promoted in North Yorkshire by a team of two wheeled fire fighters.
The Fire Bike programme sees a team of fire fighters, who are also bike enthusiasts, visiting motorcycle venues across the county to promote advanced rider training.
Tom Ibbotson from North Yorkshire Police says it's part of the wider Biker Down programme being supported by all the emergency services.
"Fire Bike is an initiative from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue supported by the partnership.
So it comprises a team of six riders, three of firefighters, and three volunteers who regularly engage motorcycle venues and events across the county promoting advanced riding and advanced rider training.
They work closely with the police motorcycles and dock bike Yorkshire, and completed 58 deployments in 2024 and educating 123 people via biker down"
25 percent of road fatalities in North Yorkshire are motorcyclists, despite motor bikes making up less than 10 percent of road traffic.
Deputy Mayor - Jo Coles - has welcomed the initiative.
"They do a tremendous job.
The fire bike volunteers, and they are volunteers who do all of this stuff in addition to their substantive roles, they're all bikers.
They do a brilliant job, although , given the number of accidents and serious injuries involving people on motorbikes, my only question, , is whether or not it's enough and whether we just need to look at what else we need to be doing to keep bikers from being killed or seriously injured on our roads given the statistics.
