The MP for Filey has said he's still hoping for a decision on funding to improve the A64 this year.
The road connecting Scarborough to Leeds and York may be set for an increase in dual-carriageway.
If funding can be secured from the government- it would see an extra lane to tackle a bottle-neck at Hopgrove near York going as far as Barton Hill to the East.
Kevin Hollinrake is Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade:
In April, Mr Hollinrake told councillors, who have been campaigning for a major upgrade to the A64 for decades, it was by no means certain the Government would approve the bid to dual the A64 from Hopgrove to Barton Le Willows.
He told a meeting of North Yorkshire Council’s Thirsk and Malton constituency committee the bid was “on a knife-edge”, but National Highways was now looking beyond factors such as population density.
