There have been just 8 safety incidents at Scarborough and Whitby Harbours over the last 12 months.
Safety measures at both Whitby and Scarborough Harbour have been recognised as being at a high level of compliance, following a recent health check.
Assistant Director for Harbours at North Yorkshire Council, Paul Thompson, says the number of incidents has fallen this year.
The responsibility for both Harbours recently transferred ownership from Scarborough Council to North Yorkshire Council.
Paul Thompson goes on to attribute the success and recognition for the excellent efforts made by his staff.
