On Saturday, officers in the Eastfield area spotted a vehicle whose driver appeared to be deliberately avoiding detection.
As officers passed, the driver concealed their face and later exited the vehicle from the passenger side to evade contact.
Thanks to local CCTV, officers have been able to gather further evidence. Checks confirmed that the vehicle was uninsured. The registered keeper has now been formally notified to provide details of the driver and may face prosecution if they fail to respond.
The vehicle has been seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
Police say they would like to thank the community for their continued support. If you have any information about similar offences in the area, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or via their online reporting service.
