Extra government funding for East Yorkshire schools wont help address a £12.7m overspend this year.
Just over £6m is from Primary Schools, £1.5m from secondary schools and the overspend on the high needs block is £4.4m
East Riding's Director of Finance, Julian Nielson - says there are a number of reasons for the deficit.
Increasing energy prices and higher than expected pay awards have played a part in this year's deficit.
Julian Nielson says extra government funding has recently been announced for schools but doesn't start until the next financial year and wont help with this year's deficit.
