Saint Catherine's Hospice is partnering with RunThrough UK for the upcoming East Yorkshire Half Marathon and 10k on Sunday, 25th May.
The event, taking place at Burton Constable Hall near Hull, presents a significant opportunity for the hospice to raise vital funds and awareness for their crucial work in the local community.
The races, organised by RunThrough UK, will start at 9:00 am for the Half Marathon and 9:30 am for the 10k. The courses follow a road-closed loop around West Newton and New Ellerby, situated approximately 8 miles from Hull city centre. RunThrough emphasises that the courses are "perfect for beginners or running a personal best time" and are officially measured and licensed by Run Britain/UKA, welcoming runners of all abilities. A strict 3-hour cut-off is in place for the half marathon due to road closures.
For those wishing to support Saint Catherine's Hospice while participating in the event, the hospice has secured its own places for both the half marathon and 10k distances.
Saint Catherine's Hospice will have a presence at the event on the day to offer support and encouragement to the runners. Saint Catherine's fundraiser, Susan Stephenson, says it's the first time that the hospice has been involved in the East Yorkshire event.
The East Yorkshire Half Marathon and 10k offers various entry options, with prices starting from £32 for the 10k and £34 for the Half Marathon. Participants will receive a unique themed medal, chip-timed results, post-race goodies, and free official race photos as part of their entry. There is also an option to purchase a technical t-shirt with the event logo for an additional £12.
Entries for the event are limited, and RunThrough advises early sign-up to avoid disappointment. Beyond running, there are also opportunities to get involved by volunteering at the event. RunThrough values the contribution of volunteers, who assist with various tasks such as managing stalls and handing out medals.
Those interested in running for Saint Catherine's Hospice are encouraged to contact them directly to secure a place and contribute to their fundraising efforts.
