A record number of local businesses across East Yorkshire are accessing formal support for the first time, from business support services.
Between April 2024 and September 2025, 48 per cent of businesses using the service reported that they had not previously accessed formal business support.
The service is delivered jointly by Invest East Yorkshire, Invest Hull and the local Growth Hub, providing businesses with a single point of access for advice, guidance and growth support.
The partnership model specialises in reaching microbusinesses, sole traders and early-stage firms that have traditionally found national or fragmented support difficult to navigate.
Offering a single-entry point, East Riding businesses can access support without needing to understand different programmes, organisations or eligibility requirements. They are guided towards tailored support based on their individual needs and stage of development.
The approach is helping to ensure that businesses across both urban and rural communities can access advice. It helps support resilience and long-term sustainability across the local economy.
Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader, said:
“Many small businesses and sole traders can find it difficult to know where to turn for advice, particularly in the early stages of their journey. By working in partnership to provide a single, straightforward route into support, we are making it easier for businesses across the East Riding to access the help they need to grow and thrive.”
